Legal Aid 60 is an independent information website operated by Family Legal Ltd. It is not GOV.UK, the Legal Aid Agency or a government service, and it cannot decide whether you qualify for legal aid. About this site

Privacy policy

The short answer

This website collects almost nothing. It sets no cookies for readers, runs no analytics, and makes no third-party requests at all. The tools run entirely inside your browser and nothing you type into them is ever sent anywhere. If you email us, we have your email.

Key points

  • No cookies are set for people reading this site.
  • No analytics. No Google Analytics, no tag manager, no pixels.
  • No third-party requests. Every file the page loads comes from this website.
  • Fonts are self-hosted, so your IP address is never sent to a font provider.
  • The tools transmit nothing. Everything you enter stays in your browser and is gone when you close the tab.
  • Your hosting provider keeps server logs, as every website’s does.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Family Legal Ltd, company number 16431127, registered in England and Wales. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you want to exercise any of your rights, or you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email help@legalaid60.org.uk first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at any point.

What happens when you read a page

Nothing is stored about you, and nothing leaves this website. We checked this rather than assuming it: every file a page loads is served from this domain, there are no scripts from anywhere else, and no cookie is set.

Two consequences worth knowing. There is no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. And we genuinely cannot tell you how many people read a given page, because we do not measure it.

The tools on this site

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is submitted, stored or transmitted, and it is gone the moment you close the tab.

That is a deliberate design choice rather than a convenience. On a site about legal aid, the tools invite people to think about their income, their savings and sometimes about abuse. Information like that should not be sitting on somebody’s server, so we built it so that it never arrives on ours.

If you want to keep a result, print it or save it as a PDF from your own browser.

If you email us

We will have your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply and to deal with what you have raised, and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.

Please keep any email general. We do not want the details of your case, and we cannot advise on it. Do not send case papers, financial disclosure, court documents or anything confidential. If you do, we will delete it.

We keep correspondence only as long as we need it to deal with the matter and to handle any follow-up, and then delete it.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical information about requests to the server, which typically includes IP addresses, timestamps and the pages requested. That happens for every website and is necessary to run one securely.

We do not use those logs to build any picture of individual visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else. Our provider does not publish a fixed retention period, so we cannot state one here. Logs are kept only for as long as is necessary for security and for keeping the service running.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable form. Given how little this site collects, in most cases the honest answer to a request will be that we hold nothing at all.

To make a request, email help@legalaid60.org.uk. We respond within one month.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does with data ever changes, this page changes with it and the change is dated. Adding analytics, a contact form or any non-essential cookie would all require an update here, and a consent banner where one is needed.
